Out and about in Amsterdam and once again rocking a few trends
at the same time. One of my favorite trends is the quiltet puffer jacket. This post is little overdue, as we re already entering spring real soon, but hey, you can wear the trend well along into the new season too. Especially here in chilly Amsterdam. As much as I love classic pieces, I am a huge fan of new trends.
I love renewal, so I always pick up on the latest and freshest styles. It has been cold still and this particular puffer jacket has been my life vest for the past two weeks. No need to layer much. Just throw it over a sweater and I am warm and comfy. So while we’re at it, let me share a few tips on how to wear the puffer jacket.
Get the look:
Emiel and I shot these photos on the skinny bridge, also knows by the Dutch as The Magere Brug. It’s one of the most beautiful bridges in Amsterdam. This wooden drawbridge was once so narrow that it was hard for two pedestrians to pass eachother. To cope with increasing traffic on the Amstel, a wider bridge replaced the narrow original in 1871. When the sun sets the skinny bridge is a popular attraction for romantic couples and photographers. With the thousands of lights illuminating the charming bridge it’s easy to understand. The local legend tells the skinny bridge was named after the “magere zussen” (skinny sisters). These two well off sisters lived on opposite sides of the rivere. They are said to have the wooden bridge built to make it easier to visit one another.
Up your coat credentials with the cold weather favorite of the season; the puffer jacket
To be honest with you guys, I was never really a fan of the puffer jacket. The reason I love fresh new trends, is the fact that I can totally change my mind about certain fashion pieces and start loving it to a point that I am completley obsessed with it.
I am not sure if this is a good thing, because once the trends has faded I might hate it again and wonder what I was thinking in the first place.
We live and learn right? My closet is still overloaded with trend pieces from 2012 I wouldn’t want to be caught dead in right now, so nowadays, I do pick up on a trend more carefully. After spotting the puffer jacker on the Paris and Milan runways, this trend has completely won me over.
In my opinion, the key to pulling off any puffer coat the cool way is to add a dash of edginess by wearing it with studded leather pieces. I grabbed my favorite leather skirt, a studded bag from Michael Kors, and a sexy pair of fishnet sheers from Hunkemoller for that “I am with the band”” vibe. Other fabulous combos are the puffer jacket with a pair of distressed denims, velvet sweatpants with a pair of heels, or think a leopard skirt and a lace crop top for a night out. No need to worry about freezing to death while still looking on point.
Stylist Tip:
“Throw it way back and champion those 90’s nostalgia vibes with a cropped quilted jacket in a sweet pastel shade, or opt for an oversized style to up your street style cool”
Thanks for stopping by everyone!
