By now, most of us have taken note that the oversized shearling coat has been trending and might be here for a few seasons. It’s easy to figure out why. This classic-modern piece is easy to wear with just about any type of outfit and adds that instant coolness every modern woman is looking for.
I’ve noticed that most of us like to keep it on the safe side by choosing this particular coat in black or even brown. Yep, the color black is fabulous, but why not try out two trends at once with a high-shine metallic version. You might wonder, how do I style such an eye-catching piece the cool way and not end up looking like you stepped straight out of an episode of Star Trek?
Get the look:
If you are a little hesitant to add metallic to your wardrobe, try wearing it with basics like a black or white tee. The key to making your metallic coat blend in, yet be the centerpiece of your look is by wearing a color close in hue like a soft gray. I paired the metallic coat with a pair of classic plaid leggings I grabbed at Zara a few weeks ago. Of course, you can also choose a pop of color like I did with by accessorizing with a lavender baseball hat and add depth by choosing a cool pattern like a pair of cute striped socks. The color ultraviolet is considered 2018 IT color and looks amazing with metallic. Remember to keep the rest streamlined and understated by sticking to mostly neutral colors.
Switch things up by pairing metallic with cool textures like black lace for a sophisticated style or wear it with a long bold knitted sweater dress for a casual-cozy look. A camel colored knit will look gorgeous with either gold or silver metallic.
A few tips:
Casual Feminine
Dress down a sexy body con dress in any color paired with a metallic shearling coat. This works great as a daytime look!
Rock & Roll
Take a cue from the cool crowd and wear the metallic trend with a leather piece. Why don’t you try a black leather skirt or a pair of lace-up
pants for an edgy night out on the town?
Bohemian-chic
A metallic coat looks great with a bohemian dress with a pair of stylish over-the-knee boots. Opt for a black and white floral, or polka dot piece. So cute for spring coming up.
Denim
Yup, rock your metallic number with a denim on denim ensemble. Throw it over a denim skirt and cropped denim top and accessorize with a pair of killer heels. Fabulous!
Pair bright colors with shine
What do you get when you pair a bright color with shine? One seriously festive and chic outfit. Yes, do try!
As a rule of thumb, metallic hues like gold, rose gold and bronze pair best with warm colors and earth tones while silver, grey and gunmetal metallics
look spot on with cooler tones like navy blue.
