Being back in Amsterdam and adapting to city life after a long period of traveling back and forth to Indonesia. I find it a necessity to feel at home again and relax at my favorite neighborhood spots. I am fortunate to live in the lively area The Pijp where shops, bars, and restaurant are in abundance. When I was young, The Pijp used to be a strictly residential neighborhood. I’m glad that it has transformed into the hippest area in Amsterdam. If this city is on your bucket list, make sure to stop by my favorite go-to places and let me know what you think!
Blond Café Amsterdam is a pink decor café known for its delicious cakes, pies, hearty soups, and grilled cheese sandwiches served on their famous quirky Blond tableware. The perfect spot for Instagram worthy snaps and just around the corner from the Albert Cuyp open air market. The Blond tableware is also available for you to buy in the attached shop. Totally fun as it makes a great gift for almost anyone!
I have been going to Bagel & Beans for years now and if you are a bagel lover like me, this is the place to be. The atmosphere is very laid back and everything is just delicious. I am absolutely addicted to their spelt bagel topped with their mushroom patty. A great choice for a vegetarian like me. Their coffees and teas are really good and my absolute favorite is their Chai Latté. Bagel & Beans also serves yummy pies, cakes, freshly squeezed juices, salads, and superfood shots. You can’t go wrong here, trust me!
The best traditional Belgian fries in Amsterdam are to be found at Par Hasard. This cozy wine bar makes fries exactly the way we like them. Crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Their fish and chips are delicious! Have you ever tried fries with a glass of exquisite red wine? Par Hasard know how to combine the two. Located in the heart of The Pijp, this spot is a must try whenever you get the chance to visit this area!
Simply thé authentic place in Amsterdam for superb wines with a knowledgeable staff where the French style real food matches your bottle or glass. The restaurant consists of 8-10 tables and with a staff that instantly gives you the feeling of exclusiveness. If the weather is good this is a great place to sit outside and watch the world go by.
Not a vegan or vegetarian and craving all kinds of hotdogs and milkshakes? Well, this is the place to check out. Bulls and Dogs, a small, cute restaurant is one of the best places to eat in the city of Amsterdam! The workers are so friendly but more importantly, the food and drinks are outstanding. The milkshakes and hot dogs are one of a kind and a must have. I would 10/10 recommend this to anyone to try.
