How I Manage To Stay Positive During Uncertain Times

I think most of us agree that up until now, times have been a very challenging, if not very difficult year for us. With multiple waves of the pandemic,  more and more people losing jobs and income, an economy that is crashing to an all-time low, a long winter ahead of us, life can seem bleak to many of us. I’ve taken note that a majority of people are having a hard time staying positive. Depression rates are high and most of us struggle with the fact that planning for our future is a tad bit harder than usual.  Nobody knows where this is all going -and the worst for how long?

Our government in The Netherlands announced we are going back to a semi-lockdown. Bars, restaurants, and coffee shops are shut down again, facemasks will be mandatory in public, we can only invite two visitors in our home. They keep telling us: “Until we have a vaccine things can’t back to normal”. A Covid-19 vaccine. Will that be the solution? I have my doubts about them, I worry about them. To be honest they scare the shit out of me, and not because I am afraid of needles – I am not-. I am weary of the fact that this vaccine is being manufactured at a rate that is way too fast. If possible side effects might be able to affect our health long-term.

I am worried that government officials will present this vaccine as our only option to beat the pandemic. My question is what kind of world that would create?  I think about the future of our children, grandchildren and so on. I find myself having a hard time focusing on my work because of it. I’ve thought about it and I decided that I want this blog to be as transparent as possible to you guys. I don’t want to pretend my life is all picture-perfect, because like most of us, it is not. I’m a very positive-minded person. I always have been, but there are some days where I worry and wonder. It’s in moments like these where I dig deep in myself to find my inner positivity  because, being positive is my core nature. Staying positive is the only thing we have control over right and right now, it is needed more than ever. So. here are a few ways I have been able to stay as positive as possible. It might be of somewhat help to you.

1- A Positive Morning Routine

Having to work from home, I find it incredibly important to stick to a healthy morning routine that gets my mind in the right frame to be productive. When I stick to my morning routine, the better I feel during the rest of the day. I have just recently started my mornings without looking at my phone and I think I really like it. I love to get up, fix my bed, burn incense, and a few candles, and turn on soothing jazz music on Youtube. It puts me in a state where my mornings start calm and peaceful and with the least amount of stress. I drink my lemon water and celery juice and sit and enjoy a few moments of thought and calmness. You can call it meditation, I also just call it my morning-me time. I clean up a little bit and head for the shower. For a strong immune system I  finnish my shower by blasting myself with cold water. It gets the blood flowing, is great for your skin, and wakes me up in seconds. It takes a while getting used taking to a cold shower, but once you get used to it, you can’t live without it. When it comes to my hair  I rinse with just water and use cillicone-free conditioner, scrunch it with a curl cream and gel and let it air dry. After getting dressed, it’s breakfast time. I usually choose oatmeal with a scoop of vegan protein powder, a table spoon of flaxseeds, and a plash of oat milk. Then I add some goji berries, sunflower seeds, dried cranberries, and top with a few sprinkles of cinnamon and sliced apple. It’s delicious and so healthy.


2- Staying Productive


When you are working from home, it’s easy to get in pajama mode, turn on Netflix and zone out. I happen to love watching a great series or movie, but in the long run watching too many tv shows get me in a blah mood. Eventually, I will start to feel down about everything. I think it’s really important that in the times we are living in right now, we should stick to a few goals we would like to achieve for our future. Make the most out of our days by keeping ourselves busy with things that really matter. For me, it’s working on new projects and hobbies. It makes a huge difference how in I look at myself at the end of the day when I’ve made it a priority to make it a productive one.



3: Keep your body moving

Thankfully, the gyms in The Netherlands are open again after being shut down for months. With clubs, bars and restaurants closed down again, the gym is thé place to get a sense of normalcy and positive vibes. My local gym blasts great club music, I’m surrounded with like-minded folks who also want to feel healthy and stay in shape, I get the much-needed exercise to stay fit and, to top it all, exercise builts my immune system.



4: Taking my vitamins and minerals

Since the age of 31, I have always added vitamins and minerals to my diet. There have been times where I wasn’t sticking to my regime as much as I want to, but lately, I’ve gone back to a full range of supplements to boost my mood, strengthen my immune system and, provides me with a large dose of energy. I have felt a huge difference when I started focusing on putting the right nutrients in my body. Here is what I’ve been taking and trust me I have been feeling a LOT better lately. Mentally and physically.

Vitamin C –  from Organic C by Physalis

2 capsules of Salmon oil from Holland & Barett

1 tablet of iron from Garden Of Life

1 tablet of highdosed zinc 25 mg from Holland & Barrett

400 grams of Magnesium from Lucovitaal

2 tablets of Kerotin Hair vitamins

1 spoon of Super Collagen (For hair and skin) from Lucovitaal

1 tablet Overgang Totaal (for perimenopausal mood swings) from A. Vogel



6: Raise your emotional and spiritual frequency

Increasing your vibration in the way to feel positive.  From personal experience, I came to recognize the importance of raising your vibration and how to do it. I explain some of the most powerful ways to raise your vibration to live a more positive, meaningful life. By becoming the best version of yourself, you can also help others do the same, and ultimately lead humanity to a more positive place.

1- State oud loud that you are grateful for that moment.

2- Eat more raw stuff: The more organic and unprocessed, the higher the vibe.

3- Meditate.

4- Say no to something that drains your energy.

5- Have a tech detox.

6- Get out of your left brain and into your right by creating something that didn’t exist a moment before.

7- Breathe deeply: the more oxygen your cells get, the more alive you will feel.

8- Read a high vibe book.

9- Say something nice to a stranger.

10- Head to the ocean and let those negative ions do their thing.

11- Get yourself hugged.

12- Declutter your work and living space.

13- Call in some high vibe friends who raise you up not pull you down (and maybe do a social inventory while you’re at it).
